Your Wedding Soundtrack (ceremony edition)

Updated: Mar 19

Music can make or break a wedding day! Music can literally be the magic during the ceremony and the energy at the reception! Think about your music selections and your entertainers, they together can paint a memory that you won't soon forget!

Song selections that you should begin to think about RIGHT NOW!

As your guest enter the ceremony it's a nice touch to have music selections playing softly to quiet the silence. When it's time to start, it's nice for someone to say Welcome, silence cell phones and take their seat for the program that's about to begin.

Honoree Entrance

A song for the honorees to walk in on. This can be your grandparents, godparents, aunts, uncles and parents. Anyone that you feel has a special place in your life and you want to honor them during the ceremony in a sweet but public way.

My favorite song for this is: "I Found Love" by BeBe & CeCe Winans

Groom Entrance

Your Officiant, Groom and Best Man will enter after the honorees. You can pick a song for this, but it's a quick transition. I usually advise my couples to use the same song as above or the same song as the Bridal Party procession which is next.

Bridal Party Procession

Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, Ringer Bearer, Flower Girl and anyone else in the wedding.

Keep in mind that this song will probably play for several minutes depending on the number of attendants walking down the aisle and the length of the aisle. I personally love a classical selection here.

My favorite song for this is: "Canon In D" by Pachelbel. There are various variations. In my opinion the more instruments the better. My favorite non classical selection is "After All Is Said And Done" Beyonce & Marc Nelson

Bride Entrance

The big debut of the Bride's look! One of my favorite parts! I love talking to the Bride before she heads down the aisle! I always ask the Bride for the cue to open the doors, everyone has "that part" that they want to walk in the room too! I have so many favorites for this but here are my top 3. The middle one gets me emotional each time.

Classic Tradition: "Wedding March" by Mendelssohn

My favorite song for this is: "I'm Sure It's You" Shelea.

A classic that I can't not ignore is "The One He Kept For Me" by Maurette Brown-Clark

Once the ceremony starts you can definitely add music for the unity ceremony, but it's also quick. The Lord's Prayer is also another popular addition that you can add before the final blessing. The Lord's Prayer can be a soloist performance but choirs have also become all the rage! Remember the Royal Wedding last summer? They didn't perform the Lord's Prayer but the selection was memorable and symbolic! Do you remember the song that was performed? Royal Wedding choir performance.

Recession

The ceremony is complete and you have kissed your new spouse! I always recommend something fun and upbeat as you exit your ceremony in marital bliss!

My favorite classical selection is: "Trumpet Voluntary" .

My favorite non-classical selection is: "This Will Be" by Natalie Cole
