Choosing a wedding venue is one of the most exciting parts of planning your big day! If you're planning to get married, you've probably already searched the internet for wedding venues; but, there's more to a wedding venue than just its beautiful garden or stunning ballroom. Before booking your venue make sure to ask these questions:
CAN WE VIEW A PORTFOLIO OF PREVIOUS EVENTS?
A good venue will want to show off its accomplishments and prove that it’s capable of providing an excellent experience for your wedding. You should be able to see photos, lists, and/or portfolios from past clients so that you can get a good idea of what kind of event they can help plan. This will give you an idea of what the venue is capable of.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN THIS LOCATION ACCOMODATE?
If you're planning on holding your ceremony and reception at the same location, it's important to make sure that both events will be able to fit comfortably there. The number of guests your venue will be able to accommodate is an important factor in selecting a venue. If you have a large guest list, it’s worthwhile to look into more expansive venues. That way, there will still be plenty of room for everyone without feeling crowded or claustrophobic.
DO YOU HAVE A LIST OF PREFFERED CATERERS?
A list of preferred caterers is a good sign that your venue cares about the quality of food on their property.
This list will also help you choose the best option for your budget and taste. Caterers on this list most likely are well trained and have previous experience working with the venue.
WHAT ARE THE RATES FOR DIFFERENT DAYS OF THE WEEK?
If you're flexible with your date ask about the rate for different days of the week, times of day, and or even the season! For example, select venues might charge a cheaper rate for a Sunday wedding versus a Saturday night.
Oftentimes, the rate you're quoted may be standard and will remain the same regardless of the day of the week or season. The best way to know if this is true is by asking your venue directly.
ARE THERE ANY DECOR RESTRICTIONS?
It’s always worth asking your venue about any restrictions they have so that you can plan accordingly and make sure everything comes together perfectly. When it comes to venue restrictions on decorations, there are two main situations: one where the venue’s insurance policy doesn't allow certain items or materials in their space; and two (much more common), where certain types of décor items aren't allowed based on what's best for guests' safety and comfort.
IS PARKING AVAILABLE ON SITE?
Parking can be a concern for couples, especially if you're having your wedding at a venue downtown or a location where parking is very limited. Before booking your venue, make sure to ask about parking availability and cost (if there is one). If there's no on-site parking available consider providing shuttles for your guests or see if the venue offers any valet services.
Thank you so much for reading this post. We hope it has helped you in your search for the perfect wedding venue! Asking the right questions is a great way to make sure that you’re getting exactly what you want from your venue. A good venue will understand why you need to ask these questions, and will be happy to give you an answer!
