One of my groomsmen, Jordan, is a close friend who I play Xbox with from time to time. The first time I heard Sydney was through is his headset. I was like wait a minute you have a sister. Lol, how old is she? What does she look like? Does she have Facebook? I was thirsty at the time. I added her on Facebook and, in my head, I thought she was so beautiful. We started going back and forth and one day I just pulled one on her and asked her to be my girlfriend. She told me no, but I was still persistent. I knew Valentine’s Day was coming up and I wanted to do something sweet for her. I got her a teddy bear and her favorite chocolate because I knew I would see her when I went to the to play basketball at the Nat. I surprised her with gifts and to see the smile on her face made my heart warm. I kept talking to her and trying to win her over the best I could. June 26th, 2011, we made It Official. She has made me a better person. I don’t know where I would be without her. She always looks out for me and has the biggest heart. I can’t wait to marry her. If I would use one word to describe her: INCREDIBLE.

She has a huge heart and always willing to be supportive in any matter.
At the time Facebook was pretty much the social media network to be on. On December 14th, 2010, I got this random message from this boy, with no idea who he was. I checked out some of his pictures and remember thinking oh he had a cute smile, but that was it lol. He was a friend of my brother’s best friend who were both neighbors and the three of them hung out. The conversation started out casual…I was thinking nothing of it. I just looked at him as just one of my brother’s friends and nothing more. However, that same day maybe 5 messages had exchanged between us, and then on the spot this man had the nerve to ask me to be his girlfriend. I knew nothing about him, such as, his favorite color, food, sport, or anything. I just laughed and said no, I don’t know you. After that moment we continued building our relationship as friends, until 2011 on Valentine’s Day. I was working out at the Natatorium (“the Nat”), and it was our first time meeting face to face. Again, I thought nothing of it…just casually meeting. NOPE, he shows up with a teddy bear and chocolate while here I am empty handed. I thought it was sweet, but I still didn’t know him too well. We continued talking for a while and I enjoyed his personality and sense of humor. He always knows how to make me laugh. It wasn’t until June 26th, 2011, when we made it official. Even though we went to different high schools and colleges he continued to be by my side. Now 11 years later we continue to grow in our home with our two fur babies. From the beginning knowing they were not his dogs he took them in with open arms and now adores them like they’re his own. I can’t wait to marry him and continue the journey we are building!
She said YES!
We had trip planned for New York where I was going to propose in front of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, but Covid was still high. So, I had this plan of bringing New York to her. I thought it would be so romantic and special. I had our families there for support. I had a backdrop of the New York skyline, rose petals and "Marry Me" in marquee letters. She walked down the path crying and I knew this was the moment. I had butterflies and was nervous about getting on one knee to the propose to the woman I love. I told her I love her, she’s the love of my life and I can’t be without her, and she said Yes!
