ANNA & BRITTNEY
Are Getting Married
SHE SAID YES
I have to give credit to Anna. She was ready to marry before I was. It took me many years. I wanted to be sure, and I wasn't clear on when you "know" someone is the one. I have never once questioned my love for Anna, but I wanted to only marry once in my life. I remember throwing out "10 years" as a ballpark for Anna, and her reaction was priceless. Even though I was not sure if I was ready to say "Yes", I knew I wanted to spend forever with her. And it didn't stop us from at least buying each other's engagement ring. With her ring burning a hole in my sock drawer, I still found myself wanting to plan my proposal. Disney World had become a yearly vacation spot for us, so when my sister offered vacationing together, visiting family and trekking to Disney World for a day, I started to plan. I had the whole day pictured in my head. We were going to enjoy rides in the morning, eat a sit down meal together, and a mid-afternoon photoshoot, which I played off as a family photo opportunity. And the thing about weather and young children is that you should always have a Plan B, Plan C... and D. As we got there, it started pouring down rain. My nephew did not enjoy the unfamiliar Disney rental stroller, so nap time happened during the most expensive lunch we all did not get a chance to enjoy. Afterward, while we're all hunkered under a small awning for the latest rainstorm to pass, we made the decision to cut the day short and call off the photoshoot. As we were walking back through Main Street in the park, on our way out the exit, I saw the castle behind us and remembered all of the memories we've shared in that park together. I knew this was the spot I wanted to propose. So without addressing anyone to capture the moment, I tugged Anna around to face me, pulled out the ring, and got down on one knee. It honestly made the day into something so cherishable for us. We got to propose our way. The kids were happily distracted, playing with new knickknacks bought at the souvenir shop, and the SUN CAME OUT!
